Application Process: 2s–4s

For the 2023–2024 school year, the birthday cut-off date for children applying to the 2s–4s is August 1, 2023; for all other Groups: October 1, 2023. (For example, children applying for the 2s must be two years old before August 1, 2023.)

Submitting an Application

Applications for the 2023-2024 school year will be processed through December 1, 2022, and on a rolling basis thereafter.

Once we receive your application, we will email you to schedule two things: an interview with Elise Bauer or Nick Smart from Admissions, and a conversation with a current C&C parent who has a child in the age group to which you are applying. All applicants must submit a non-refundable $75 application fee. Thank you!

Learning About C&C

Beginning mid-September, we will be hosting a number of Information Sessions. These sessions offer a detailed look at our school, including a photo and video presentation about our program, and a virtual mingling session with current parents. Click here to register for one of our upcoming sessions. You are not required to submit an application prior to attending an info session.

Wondering if you’ll be able to see the beautiful C&C campus in person? Once you submit an application and attend a virtual information session, you will receive an invitation for a small-group tour of our classrooms, outdoor spaces, and studios. 

School Reports

If your child attends school, we ask that you request the school to submit the most recent school report. All school reports should be submitted to no later than January 9, 2023.

In the interest of saving paper, we strongly encourage your child’s school to email the school report to erikag@cityandcountry.org.

Child Visits

2s and 3s
Children applying for the 2s and 3s will visit C&C in small groups throughout the morning of Saturday, January 7. C&C teachers will facilitate the children’s work with our open-ended materials while parents and parental figures hang out along the sidelines. To schedule your child’s visit, please refer to your admissions checklist once you submit your application.

One note: Please bring a change of clothes for your child as the water table is a popular activity among the two- and three-year-old set. You don’t want to venture out sopping wet after your playgroup!

4s
Children applying for the 4s will visit C&C in small groups throughout the afternoon of Saturday, January 7. C&C teachers will facilitate the children’s work with open-ended materials while parents and parental figures hang out along the sidelines. To schedule your child’s visit, please refer to your admissions checklist once you submit your application.

For Everyone:
Please try to keep your stress about this at a low level. We are not looking for the “perfect” applicants. The playgroups help us achieve our goal of creating diverse, heterogeneous, and balanced groups of children and families.

Immunization Requirements

The New York State Department of Health and the New York City Department of Education require all children to be vaccinated prior to admission.

A Special Note About Our Application Form

A special note about our application form: Our application has several open-ended questions that will help us to get to know you and your child. Please know that we expect only a couple of sentences as answers to these questions. Our goal is to make the best match that we can between a family and the School. Of course, we also keep in mind our goal of creating a diverse and balanced population.
