For the 2023–2024 school year, the birthday cut-off date for children applying to the 5s–13s is October 1, 2023. For example, children applying for the 5s should be five years old on or before October 1, 2023.
Submitting an Application
Applications for the 2023–2024 school year will be processed through December 1, 2022, and on a rolling basis thereafter.

Once we receive your application, we will email you to schedule two things: an interview with Elise Bauer or Nick Smart from Admissions, and a conversation with a current C&C parent. All applicants must submit a non-refundable $75 application fee. The fee is waived for those applying for financial aid. Thank you!
Learning About C&C
Beginning mid-September, we will be hosting a number of Virtual Information Sessions. These sessions offer a detailed look at our school, including a photo and video presentation about our program, and a virtual mingling session with current parents. Click here to register for one of our upcoming sessions. You are not required to submit an application prior to attending an info session.
Wondering if you’ll be able to see the beautiful C&C campus in person? Once you submit an application and attend a virtual information session, you will receive an invitation for a small-group tour of our classrooms, outdoor spaces, and studios.
School Reports
If your child attends an independent school, we ask that you request the school to submit a completed ISAAGNY form (required):
You may also provide a current school report (optional). Applicants coming from public schools are required to submit the most recent school report. All school reports should be submitted no later than January 9, 2023.
You will find a “Records Release” form on the checklist that is part of the application process.
In the interest of saving paper, we strongly encourage your child’s school to email the ISAAGNY form and/or school report to erikag@cityandcountry.org.
Financial Aid
City and Country School offers financial aid to applicants for the 5s and above. For financial assistance for the 2023–2024 school year, current C&C families should submit their form no later than Monday, November 21, 2022. Standardized Testing
City and Country School does not require standardized test scores as part of the admissions process for children of any age.
Student Visits
5s and 6s
Applicants applying for the 5s and 6s will come to C&C in small groups throughout the afternoon of Saturday, January 7. C&C teachers will facilitate the children’s visit while parents and parental figures wait in the Library and other areas of the school building. Children will be invited to socialize, work with open-ended materials, and do a one-on-one, 15-minute activity with an educator. To schedule your child’s visit, please refer to your admissions checklist once you submit your application.
7s and Older
Applicants for the 7s and older will be invited to spend time in one of our current groups for all or part of a school day. Please expect an email from us about the details of this visit and to schedule an appointment.
If you are located outside of New York and a visit to the area is not possible for you, please be in touch to make arrangements for a virtual student visit.
For All Age Groups
A special note about our application form: Our application has several open-ended questions that will help us to get to know you and your child. Please know that we expect only a couple of sentences as answers to these questions. Our goal is to make the best match that we can between a family and the School. Of course, we also keep in mind our goal of creating a diverse and balanced population.
Immunization Requirements
The New York State Department of Health and the New York City Department of Education require all children to be vaccinated prior to admission.
Notification
City and Country School complies with the Independent Schools Admissions Association of Greater New York (ISAAGNY) notification and reply dates.
5s Group (Kindergarten):

Parent Reply Deadline: Noon on Thursday, February 16, 2023
6s–13s Groups (1st–8th Grades):
