City and Country School is a coeducational independent, progressive school for children ages 2-13 in Greenwich Village. Children at City and Country develop responsibility and a strong sense of community through group experiences such as block building and work with other open-ended materials in the Lower School, and group jobs in the Middle and Upper School. Through trips, books, and opportunities for other first-hand experiences, children learn to ask questions and conduct meaningful research. After-School Teacher

City and Country School seeks an After-School Teacher for Pre-K through second grade (IVs-VIIs).

Part-Time Middle/Upper School Psychologist

City and Country School seeks a part-time Middle/Upper School Psychologist.

The Part-Time Middle/Upper School Psychologist works to support children in grades 3-8 and their families, in addition to supporting teachers in their work. This is currently a three day a week position, though there is some potential flexibility, and potential to expand in the future. Start date: January 7, 2019.

Responsibilities include:
  • Collaborate with the Student Support Teams, Group Teachers and Specials Teachers about children's development and progress
  • Observe children in a variety of in-school setting in order to advise teaches and the Student Support Teams, teachers and parents
  • Conduct classroom Community Meetings as appropriate
  • Guide social emotional development curriculum at each age level as appropriate.
  • Consult and advise regarding Health and Wellness curriculum throughout Middle and Upper Schools
  • Lead Coffee and Conversation series (developmental and topical discussions) for Middle and Upper School families
  • Coordinate with outside service providers on behalf of children and families
  • Communicate with Board of Education as necessary
  • Facilitate bi-weekly Banana Splits groups for children who have experienced parental divorce or death
  • Co-lead Parent Support Group with Lower School Psychologist, one time per month

Middle/Upper School Substitute Teachers

City and Country School seeks Middle/Upper School Substitute Teachers for the 2018-19 academic year.

Middle/Upper School Substitute Teachers work with grades 3-8.

Responsibilities may include:
  • Enacting lesson plans left by Group Teacher/Specials Teacher
    • Work may include Social Studies, Language Arts, Math, Spanish, Technology, Art, Shop, Science, Music and Physical Education
  • Supporting students in the work of the classroom
  • Managing classrooms of children
  • Providing feedback to Group Teacher/Specials teacher with regard to the lesson and the group
  • Accompanying and overseeing children during Lunch, in the Library and in the Yard
  • Joining groups on trips
  • Overseeing Morning Yard
  • Supervising Afterschool Homework/Library
