Application Process: Groups 2 to 4

For the 2019-2020 school year, the birthday cut-off date for children applying to the 2s and 3s is August 1, 2019; for all other Groups: October 1, 2019. (For example, children applying for the 2s must be two years old before August 1, 2019.)

Submitting an Application

Families are welcome to submit their completed application form between Tuesday, September 4, and Friday, November 30, 2018.

We hope to make the process easy for you to apply online.  Family and/or child photos are strongly encouraged.

Parent Visits to the School

Once we receive your application, the Admissions Office will contact you within three weeks to schedule a morning C&C Info Session. This visit will give you a thorough look at our school, including a presentation about our program, a tour of our campus, and a mingling session with current parents. Please know that Info Sessions tend to fill quickly; if we receive your application after all admissions events are booked, we will be happy to consider your application, but we cannot guarantee that we will be able to schedule a tour for you.

In addition to the daytime tour, parents interested in the 2s, 3s, and 4s are encouraged to attend our annual Open House** on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. At the Open House, parents will receive a tour from our current 13s (eighth-graders) as well as have the opportunity to speak with teachers and current parents. Please register for the Open House here; attendees are not required to submit an application prior to the event. You are welcome to attend and submit an application thereafter.

**As of October 1, 2018, registration for the Open House is full. If you are interested in touring C&C, please submit an application and we will be in touch to schedule your appointment. 

Admissions Lottery, Application Fee, and Child Visits

In order to manage the number of 2s applications that we receive, we narrow the applicant pool using a lottery system. Toward the end of December, we contact applicant families and notify them of their status. Families will either receive an invitation to a playgroup in early February 2019 or a letter inviting them to re-apply in a later year. While we wish we could invite every 2s applicant to a playgroup, the lottery method works to reduce the applications to a reasonable number.

All applicants must submit a non-refundable $75 application fee. If you are applying for the 2s, this fee enables you to enter our lottery system.

Immunization Requirements

In the interest of public health and safety, and in conjunction with the New York State Department of Education, City and Country School requires all children to be vaccinated prior to admission. 

A Special Note About Our Application Form

A special note about our application form: Our application has several open-ended questions that will help us to get to know you and your child. Please know that we expect only a couple of sentences as answers to these questions. Our goal is to make the best match that we can between a family and the School. Of course, we also keep in mind our goal of creating an inclusive and balanced population.
