Legacy Guild

Increasingly, our community uses planned gifts to augment outright giving to the School. Planned or deferred gifts, such as bequests, gift annuities, and charitable remainder trusts, provide income to City and Country for many years into the future, and allow individuals to leave a legacy of learning. Our Legacy Guild recognizes donors who have honored the School with a planned gift.

Bequest

Perhaps the most common way to do so is the arrangement for the benefit of City and Country School through a will bequest. Charitable gifts made by will are 100% tax deductible. As with current gifts, bequests may be designated either as unrestricted – giving the School the most flexibility – or restricted; that is, designated for a specific purpose.

If you wish to include an unrestricted bequest to C&C in your will, the following language is suggested:

"I give, devise, and bequeath to the City and Country School, Inc., New York, NY, ______ percent of all the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate (or _______ dollars, property, securities, etc. described below wheresoever located to be used for the benefit of City and Country School in such manner as the Principal thereof may direct."

If you wish to restrict your bequest to a specific fund or purpose, the Development Office can discuss the options with you. Please call or email Penny Arnold, Director of Development, at 212.506.5945 or pennya@cityandcountry.org.

Revocable Living Trust Provision

Another way to leave a legacy is to include C&C as a beneficiary of a revocable, living trust.

If you wish to include an unrestricted distribution to C&C in your trust, the following language is suggested:

"All trust property not previously distributed under the terms of my trust shall be divided and distributed, free of the trust, as follows: City and Country School, Inc., New York, NY, ________ percent to be used for the benefit of City and Country School in such manner as the Principal thereof may direct."

If you wish to restrict your distribution to a specific fund or purpose, the Development Office can discuss the options with you. Please call or email Penny Arnold, Director of Development, at 212.506.5945 or pennya@cityandcountry.org.
