INTERESTING READING: The NYT on the Power of Play

THE POWER OF PLAY REDUX: Research on the importance of play for the development of children--and adults--continues to build.
An article in Tuesday, April 23 Science section of the The New York Times by David Dobbs (“Playing for All Kinds of Possibilities”) references researchers whose studies over the last 25 years have linked play to neuroscience and human evolution. Among the conclusions reached, the author writes that “studies suggest that free, self-directed play in safe environments enhances resilience, creativity, flexibility, social understanding, emotional and cognitive control, and resistance to stress, depression and anxiety.” Find the article online!
