Get to Know C&C at an Upcoming Event

In 1914, City and Country School founder Caroline Pratt unbolted desks from rows and reimagined education. Her radical idea—that children learn best through hands-on engagement with meaningful content—sparked a progressive movement that still guides us today. A century later, research in neuroscience and education affirms what she knew all along: practical, creative, and collaborative learning leads to the deepest understanding.

Today, C&C is a place where curiousity is celebrated, diversity is embraced, childhood is protected, and learning is both rigorous and joyful.  The outcomes?  Exemplary. Come see for yourself.

Overview of Admission Events

City and Country uses an online management system called Ravenna for the entire admission process, including registering for events, submitting an application, and receiving final decisions. Learn more about our admissions process here.

Spring Campus Tours

Kicked off in C&C’s lovely library, this event will give attendees an important overview of C&C’s historically significant program, plus a thorough look at our campus and classrooms in action. You’ll have the chance to interact with students, current parents, and an administrator or two. Attending a spring 2026 tour will satisfy the tour requirement should you apply in the fall.

All tours are in person from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.

Meet the Grads

One of our most popular and informative events, Meet the Grads offers families an opportunity to hear from a panel of C&C alums, now students in high school. Join us in person as they reflect on their time at C&C, the overall impact their C&C education had on them, and the role it played in their high school experience. The panel will be moderated by C&C Principal Dr. Frank Patti; a reception will follow.

January 2027 Meet the Grads Date: TBD

Blocks Workshop with Sushi

This fun, casual event offers prospective parents the opportunity to experience the significance of C&C’s blocks, invented by our founder and now used worldwide. You’ll enjoy sushi and be guided through hands-on exercises that build skills in math, engineering, collaboration, creativity, and more. Put yourself in the shoes of a C&C student and join us!

These workshops are open to parents of prospective students ages 2 - second grade who have started their C&C application. One parent per family, please.

Block Workshop with Sushi will have various dates (TBD) through the 2026-27 season.

Open House

Join us for our annual behind-the-scenes look at NYC’s leader in progressive education since 1914.

C&C's open house is like no other in the City. You’ll begin with a brief welcome followed by 13-year olds and current parents guiding you as you engage in a number of hands-on activities such as  Math+Service Learning, Greco-Roman Art, Electricial Engineering for 7-Year-Olds, and much more. You’ll end at a reception with current parents.

If your child is applying for sixth grade or older, they’re welcome to tag along as you experience what distinguishes our school.

2026-27 Open House Date: TBD
