C&C+: Before and After School Programs

News > C&C+: Before and After School Programs

C&C offers a number of before and after school programs, some of which, including sports, are included in tuition. Programs are open to 4s through 13s (pre-K through eighth grade). There are a variety of offerings in various disciplines such as martial arts, language, yoga, visual art, animation, science, and sewing.

In our Afterschool Program for 8s and up, children sign up for classes on a daily basis, perhaps choosing to work in the Shop on one day and then in the Science Room and Technology Lab on another day, depending on their interests.

  • Lower School (IVs–VIIs) runs from 8:00–8:40 a.m., when children join their Groups for the beginning of the school day. Children gather in the Library to enjoy books, games, and arts and crafts activities. At 8:40 a.m., they will be brought to their classrooms by the Early Morning Drop-off teacher. You do not need to sign up ahead of time for Early Morning Drop-off. Your child may attend on a day-by-day basis. When you arrive at school in the morning, please bring your child to the Library on the first floor of the 13th Street Building. *Fee is $16 per day*
  • Middle School (VIIIs–Xs) run daily from 8:00–8:30 a.m. Space permitting, children can join a Program at any point during the 30 minute period. Morning Programs will start off with Morning Yard and Library. We also incorporate Math Practice and Math Extension among other offerings throughout the school year. Children attending Morning Programs must sign in at the Front Desk upon arrival and go directly to the appropriate location. *No fee*

A NOTE ON DISMISSAL TIMES AND EXTENDED: As the Middle and Upper School dismiss at 3:15 p.m., we understand that there may be a gap between dismissal for Lower School children and their older siblings. Extended is not a holdover place between dismissals. If you have an older child, we ask that you pick up your Lower School child at dismissal time and wait for your older child. Thank you for your help in this matter.

Community Roots is an immersive service learning class tailored for children aged 8 to 13, designed to cultivate a deep understanding of social responsibility and community engagement. Through interactive activities, discussions, and hands-on projects, participants embark on a transformative journey exploring the essence of empathy, teamwork, and the significance of giving back to their local community.

Community Roots compliments City and Country’s mission beautifully. In the class, children actively identify community issues through discussions and activities. They explore local challenges, share concerns, and propose project ideas aligned with their interests. Through group decision-making, they select projects they’re passionate about solving. Facilitators guide this process, enabling children to take ownership of chosen initiatives. This approach empowers them to address community problems they care deeply about, fostering a sense of responsibility and showing them they can make a meaningful impact.

This program serves as a nurturing ground where young minds develop critical thinking skills, foster a sense of belonging, and sow the seeds of compassion, empowering them to become active contributors to a better, more interconnected world.
